You officially got the keys to your new apartment and the empty spaces and blank walls now need to be filled. The time has come where you now have to furnish your new home but as exciting as this could be, it can be overwhelming and put a dent in your wallet, if you’re not careful. What should you splurge on and what should you save on? We’ll give you a couple pointers.
Splurge on A Mattress
You need to splurge where your health is concerned and a bad mattress won’t make you feel good waking up. If you’re lucky, you may find a deal here and there, but we suggest giving your body a good nights sleep.
Save on A Table
You may need a nice and fancy table now, but when you move out of your current home, onto bigger and better things, you may not be able to bring it with you. And we all know how difficult it is to put together those stunning and so-called “easy to assemble” IKEA tables. Don’t stress about this piece – save on it!
Splurge on Small Pieces
Small pieces are things you will bring with you wherever you may go. Splurge on apartment décor like wall-art, a chair, a closet organizer or picture frames which are things that can be used in any room in any type of apartment. These are the finishing touches that can be seen in a foyer, a bedroom, kitchen, anywhere!
Save on Paint
Let’s face it – there are ‘cheap’ paints and more expensive paints that can range from $30 to $150, but, if we can totally be honest here, ANY type of paint will do. The only bad paint you can get is the wrong colour. You may not live in your current apartment forever, so you’ll have to repaint at some point. Save on paint but be sure to choose the right colour.
Over to you – what do you think is important to splurge on? And what about saving? Do you agree with our above suggestions? Let’s hear it. Share your apartment splurges and savings!
